HOW TO GET YOUR MUSIC TO GO VIRAL

The secret of going viral is unpredictable. There has to be a reason for people to share it. People won’t just share your music because it’s just a good track; there are many other good tracks. It needs to be attached to something else that will act as a catalyst for the music to travel further. But yes, in any case, your music needs to be well written and professionally created for people to enjoy. It will not be easy and it will take a lot of work.

So let’s take a look at some tips on how to promote your music AND GET VIRAL !!! haha

1. Find out who and where your fans are

Let’s sit down, grab a notebook and just write, what is your target market? What kind of audience do you want to attract? Where to find them? I say this because it’s important to visualise and evaluate where they can find you and your music. Yes, it depends on what type of music you are creating, but for example, if your target market is between the ages of 13 and 34, you can usually find them on Instagram and TikTok, so you need to evaluate and develop a strategy to attract them to those social platforms.

2. Branding

Branding is the most important thing you’ll ever do for your music career and if you don’t believe, just notice that branding is the first thing a record label does when they sign an artist!! :) You can notice that the person’s style changes, colours are there, they are established, they talk differently because of their message. They are more direct because they know exactly who they are talking to. Targeting the perfect people with the perfect brand, perfect image, and perfect music means success.

3. COLLABORATE!!!

This is important! 2021 will be a year of collaboration explosion, you will see!!

Once you have your vision, you need to collaborate with other artists to attract more people. This is called audience exchange. You’d be surprised how many people you can attract just by creating a song with another artist. But be careful, you don’t want to collaborate with everyone, choose who you want to collaborate with.

4. Reach Out to Social Media Influencers

Contact influencers and offer your music royalty-free. Some YouTubers have millions and millions of views on their videos that are constantly looking for music so just simply go to their channel to the about section and offer your music royalty-free. If you get your music, let’s say in 10 videos, each with a million views, that’s 10 million people who listened to your track - is an amazing result that you wouldn’t imagine.

5. Get playlisted

Playlists are such a good promotional tool. Ask friends / family to add your music to their playlists. People who listen to their playlists can find your song and even add the song to their playlist !! Imagine if you get an opportunity to be into a popular playlist! Algorithmic playlists like Discover Weekly can make a big difference to your stream count.

6. Press & blogs

If your music appears in music publications, whether that’s mainstream mags or niche blogs and webzines, these placements can help create hype and empower you to elevate your music career.

They usually ask for an electronic press release. It should contain all the important information about you and your music. Just research and review other musicians’ press releases before sending them.

Performing

7. Covers

Ask your friends to post a cover of them singing/performing to your song/dance or a challenge you created! Contests are always fun, engaging and can make your sing go viral!! Look how TikTok helped to promote music during the lockdown with those dances haha!

8. Videos

People love videos...lyric video, a karaoke video, dance video, behind-the-scenes-video, artwork video...All videos are engaging and can help to not cut off your song when watching. Visuals attract the audience and make them listen to the whole song from start to finish.

9. Play live often & make an impact

Obviously, it’s a lot harder in the Covid-19 era, but concerts and tours are an invaluable way to connect with fans. Book at nearby venues, play amazing sets for local music fans and quickly build a strong, new fan base. But remember, you have to make them remember you!!

10. Remixes

This is a great way to let people listen to your song AGAIN, but only a different version of it. You can even ask to play your remix at the club! It would be incredible, just imagine people dancing along your track!!

11. Social media ads

Invest in your career. If you want to be known, then it’s one of the best tips I can offer you. Often, musicians have no problem spending hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars on instruments, equipment, software, and other tools that help us make music. However, when it comes to investing in the promotion of your music, many musicians don’t think it’s a necessary expense.

Please, don’t do that. I know, it’s a lot of expense, but it’s worth it, you will see!

12. CDE Magazine:))))))))))

Oh yes, CDE Magazine is the best place to not even get promoted but also to have a good time while doing it haha
